Perfect Lips -

Dr Rippon fully understands the complexities and the velocity of the lip structures and how to achieve natural results; he believes his understanding of the underlying anatomy, is equally important when assessing the lips accurately, so as to be able to appreciate what is and isn't possible.

Dr Rippon believes a huge part of how beautiful a smile looks like, lies on the appearance of the lips, which will form a defining frame for the mouth. The overall appearance of a bright smile will further be enhanced by lips that are well-shaped and attractively formed as often, how the lips look can make or break the overall effect of a smile.

Lips that start to form lines (because of the natural ageing process) can contribute to a prematurely old appearance; sagging and the deterioration of the lips' definition can likewise make one look much older than one's actual age.

Lip augmentation treatment can improve the way the lips look like – and in turn, can provide a marked improvement on the overall appearance of the smile. Dr Rippon considers the entire lip structure, the cupids bow, the vermilion line, the lip corners, the lip body and the lip outer line to develop truly perfect lips.

These naturally shaped perfect lips can form frames for the most attractive smiles, and has allowed Dr Rippon to deliver lip augmentation treatment to create truly perfect lips. Dr Rippon's augmentation technique specifically aims to recreate a naturally beautiful shape for the lips, resulting in a smile that instantly transforms the face into a more youthful appearance.

Q - WHAT ARE LIP FILLERS AND ARE THEY SAFE?

A - At Rippon Medical Services we use Juvéderm® dermal fillers as lip fillers to create volume, re-contour or add definition to the lips. Juvederm® contains Hyaluronic acid, a substance which naturally occurs in the body and so it's completely safe to use.

Q - HOW LONG DO LIP FILLERS LAST?

A - Juvederm® lip fillers are temporary and will typically last between 9-12 months, but this can vary depending on several factors including the volume of filler injected. Lifestyle factors, such as smoking or sun exposure, can also affect how long the results last as well as how quickly your body breaks down the filler.

Q - DO LIP FILLERS HURT?

A - During the treatment, you will feel a bearable level of discomfort. Some clients choose to have anaesthetic cream applied to the lips, which should make the treatment more comfortable. The lip filler also contains a local anaesthetic called Lidocaine, this will help to ease discomfort post treatment.

Q - I WANT MY LIPS TO LOOK NATURAL BUT SUBTLY FULLER. HOW DO YOU AVOID THE 'DUCK LIPS' LOOK?

A – Dr Rippon works with the natural shape of the lips to add volume and definition. 'Duck lips' often occur when the wrong type or too much filler has been used. That's why it's important to ensure your practitioner has extensive experience of using fillers, along with a detailed knowledge of facial anatomy.

At Rippon Medical Services Ltd you will only ever be treated by Dr Rippon, who uses the highest grade medical products and performs all treatments in his clinical room, with strict protocol and procedures to follow.

Q - IS IT TRUE THAT YOUR LIPS FEEL HARD ONCE YOU'VE HAD LIP FILLERS?

A - After treatment your lips will feel tender and sore for the first couple of days and you may have the sensation of something in your lips. Following your consultation, Dr Rippon will be able to give you an indication of how your lips will feel in the days and weeks following your treatment so you know what to expect.

Q - HOW LONG BEFORE I CAN WEAR LIP LINER OR LIP STICK AGAIN?

A - No makeup or product should be worn or applied to your lips for at least 12 hours following treatment.

Q - WHEN WILL I SEE RESULTS?

A - You will instantly notice a difference but for the product to completely settle in it may take 2-3 weeks.

Q - IS THERE ANY DOWNTIME?

A - For up to 2 weeks after your treatment you should avoid extreme warm environments such as saunas or sunbeds. Manipulation of the treated area should also be avoided.

Q - WHAT IS A 'VIAL' AND HOW MANY DO I NEED FOR MY TREATMENT?

A - A vial is simply a measurement of the anti-wrinkle injectable liquid administered during treatment. Typically, treatment for nose to mouth lines require 1-2 vials, marionette lines require 1 vial, lips require 1 - 2 vials and cheeks require 2 vials.

Q - DO THEY HURT?

Unlike traditional procedures, such as surgical face lifts or implants, this treatment requires no cuts, incisions or stitches. It may involve some light pain or discomfort. Patients describe it as a tiny scratch as the needle goes in, with a slight stinging sensation as the filler is applied.

For those feeling anxious, we can use a local anaesthetic to numb the area completely. Afterwards there may be some swelling or bruising. The swelling fades within 48 hours; the bruising can take up to a fortnight.

Q - WILL I LOOK DRAMATICALLY DIFFERENT?

A - No. Dr Rippon will work using the natural contours of your face for guidance. Your normal facial expressions will remain unaffected. During your free consultation Dr Rippon will discuss the best plan for you for subtle effects.

A - Popular areas to add volume and fullness to include the lips, cheeks and bridge of the nose. For smoothing and plumping lines and wrinkles, popular treatment areas include around the forehead, eyes, mouth, chin, neck, décolletage and hands.
